Yes it's a job for specialists, and two sets of specialists. First you need the office-based company staff who design the frac program and what they want to achieve from it, including how to avoid fraccing into anything they shouldn't (obviously, if you've seen GasLand, you'll know the Americans just ignore that last point).
Then you need the contractor who provides the frac services and they have all their engineers to operate the equipment and liase with the company guys to make it work.
But it doesn't take too long to plan a frac program. After these upcoming wells are drilled they could go back to O-2 and frac it.
Fraccing can definitely work in J1 as well. But there are different risk profiles. Firstly, fraccing is only going to work if J1 is like O2 - ie, hydrocarbons in place and a lot of it, but too tight to get out. Then you can frac it. Unfortunately, fraccing works better in gas than it does in oil in the Amadeus Basin so far.
The biggest risk is if there is just not enough oil in the prospect. Then there's no point even to frac it.
J-1 from what I remember has two targets. The first is a conventional but tight reservoir that will flow a little but fraccing would help. The second is the Horn Valley Siltstone which we KNOW has oil in it (because it's the source rock) and we also know has just about zero perm (since it's a siltstone). That one could REALLY benefit from fraccing.
Long story short: Yes, there's lot of reasons to frac J1 and assuming the deposit is big enough to justify it, CTP could be on to a real winner with short time to monetise.
There just needs to be OIL there in the upper target, and enough oil in the HVS to make fraccing worthwhile.
I'm excited for all three of these wells, particularly from the good result we got from Ooraminna, because that's the least of the three when it comes to monetising. Magee and above all Johnstone are the potential company makers here.
