"A family friend's son turned 15 and went for an apprenticeship. He was taken on by a furniture maker who took the government subsidy for the allowed 3 months then sacked him. He then hired another kid and did exactly the same thing. We later found out that this was a common practice under Howard's laws."
The above is but one example of how the Howard Work Choices {no choices} legislation worked against Australian wage and salary earners. There are of course thousands of examples known to those out there who were affected by them.
There is one thing about Australians that the Libs need to remember. They are quick to see injustice. Those IR laws were grossly unjust as they tilted the balance of power way too far toward the employer - giving the employer almost unbridled power to act as they pleased - with profound disadvantage to the average Australian wage and salary earner.
