As far as the elections in Mali for a new government is concerned = yes i think they will go ahead and there will be no negative effect on LEO. I really believe that Mali people want autonomy such that other countries have it.
If you recall, ECOWAS totally over reacted when Mali changed its government last time. And so it seems a similar thing is happening with Niger?
I think there are political factions behind all this stuff in ECOWAS and a few African countries who lets face it , have been treated terribly by those who colonized them.
Try putting yourself in the position of some African government governments with what is becoming clear , probably some of the worlds largest mineral resources. And that they have been treated very unfairly in the past...Any good government would like to maximize the returns of exports , for their citizens - such as requiring secondary processing of ores in country before they are exported.
