Recent technical talk on the Yin REE Ironstones and Carbonatites…provides a very good overview of the exploration history from DRE’s perspective and some of the current genetic interpretations.Hadn’t realised that the primary REE mineral in the ironstones is rhabdophane….a hydrated fibrous form of monazite and not the primary form of monazite (always just assumed it was the same). Also challenges to the view that the weathering of fresh carbonatite resulted in upgrade factors of 2-10x wrt the REE grades in the ironstones...but based on DRE’s work it’s far less, around 20%.
