Of course. Radioactive materials are present in small quantities in many places, The suburb in which we live has some radioactive material present in the soil, left undisturbed it doesn't present much of a problem, but for ore deposits the concentrations and volumes are orders of magnitude higher then become even more dangerous when exposed to oxygen and their surface area increased by crushing.
