From memory I don't think so.
But depends how it's done.
I know recently Mineral Resources bought out Norwest Energy for something like 1 MIN share for every 1300 NWE shares.
And that they mentioned it won't trigger a CGT event.
This was called a scrip for scrip rollover.
There are other factors too which you can read on the ATOs website.
But that would be the best option imo, if the price is right of course.
