Just to expand on my comment above. Not wanting to harp on the matter but I think this is a huge deal for investors.

Imagine if @Jacelikat had to pay tax on unrealised LTR gains every year and the only way he had to pay the tax was to sell a portion of his LTR shares every year. How much worse off would he be now?

Albert Einstein said, “The most powerful force in the Universe is compound interest.” He referred to it as one of the greatest “miracles” known to man.

Compound interest is interest added to the principal of your investment so that from that moment on, the added interest also earns interest.

You could say the same thing for unrealised capital gains invested in the market. The proposed tax on unrealised capital gains will take away your most powerful investment tool - the ability to compound your gains.

The proposed new tax is a wealth killer. People haven't considered the effect the tax will have on their ability to compound their capital gains imo. The tax is taking away your ability to fully utilise the most powerful investment tool in the universe, according to Albert Einstein.

    Go Matildas!
