Europe has become somewhat more important for Australian coal producers, with YAL IIRC increasing its sales to there from one per cent to nine per cent in FY 22.
However, while your point, hagetaka, probably is constrained supply from elsewhere plus our often high quality New6000c thermal coal, don't high transport costs given the huge distance for bulk ships mitigate against Australian thermal coal sales to Europe increasing much more?
And wouldn't companies like NHC, WHC and YAL mostly have production contracted to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and a few other Asian nations?
Perhaps NHC et al can increase production a little, given that in the past year the ARTC transport c.190 million tonnes to Newcastle by rail but rail line capacity is >210 million per annum (assuming no unexpected events such as a major derailment that takes many days to fix).
