Coles brand product quality deterioration, page-12

Let me copy paste you some comments I found online while researching the company. This is what comes up on reddit and other social media sites when you hear about Coles and Woolworths with these new technologies that they keep running (paid) adverts celebrating that the general public somehow wants these technologies? Who is doing market research there?

Went into woollies at Northland on the weekend. Literally getting one or two things but had bags in my cart from the produce store. The self check camera spotted the bags and the alarm went off. The screen said "have you forgotten some items in your trolley?" And wouldn't let me continue until a staff member came and scanned their key pass. f* these guys

Almost every time I use a self-service checkout I have to call a staff member over for assistance for one reason or another - generally a system fail. Would be easier if they just staffed the checkouts.

They'll spend millions on shit like this but not on actual people at checkouts who could, with just a glance, wave you through.

Coles give me major anxiety, I walked in one day and forgot to grab a trolley so I quickly turned around and then all these alarms went off so now in my embarrassed stressed state, I tried to leave by going through self-checkout but they know have that locked and they weren’t going to let me out at all. I understand other shops have this in someway but this was the first time I’d been in a Coles like this (not one way in from memory but 100% having a locked gate on the self-serve like what is the point) and yeah kinda ruined my morning.

I was in Woolies this morning, bought a banana and scanned it as such, the next second a ‘wait for assistance’ message came up. I barely had time to roll my eyes when a staffer appeared, logged in and it showed her a photo of the banana I had put on the scale and she confirmed it so I could leave. Not sure if this is a new thing for all weighed items? Annoying AF if the staff aren’t around cos it won’t let you pay until they approve the screen with a code.

These are just a few of the comments, there are thousands like this. Lots are less polite so I don't want to post them here.

There is a huge opportunity for Coles to seize upon shopper's frustrations with these systems and carve up market share. Woolworths is pissing people off with their systems, if you want to run self-serves fine...but at least listen to the customer feedback because if Woolworths gets the bright idea to start listening to customers it could go the other way and then it's Coles losing market share.

Plenty of small little issues which can be resolved. Yet it only seems to go in the other direction?
