Yet Australia preaches to southeast Asian nations as our politicians and bureaucracy fervently believe we are saintly.
I've been in the CL a few times: pleasant enough, but sterile and eventually boring. But politicians love being in it as it serves two purposes:
(a) means they have no chance of mixing with the despised hoi polloi
(b) cements they're view that they're 'special' and have 'made it' into an exclusive 'club': admission by invitation only (although their staff if travelling with them are also allowed in).
