    Fair point but I think it depends on where you are when you receive the call - last time I looked in detail at this Vic, NT & Qld, for example, only require the consent of one party to a conversation (e.g. you) to record it, tho the rule generally is to always advise a caller in the first 30 secs that you are recording the conversation to give them the opportunity to withdraw consent. In any event, if it’s “reasonably believed that recording the conversation protects your lawful interests” it’s generally still possible anywhere.

    But rightly so, if in doubt on the rules, just write down exactly what is said by the caller to identify himself/herself. Georgeson should not be claiming to be Computershare.

    Imagine waking up on General Election polling day to a phone call from the Electoral Commission imploring you to vote for the incumbent government because to vote for the opposition might cause instability and discontinuity.
