Fascinating that even people such as yourself expected an extended flow test for heavy oil lol. The likelihood of flow was very low, and the choice of artificial lift mechanisms was dependent on fluid viscosity, flow rate and head, fluid temperature, gas inclusion, well geometry, presence of solids etc, as seen below:

My point is, Roch2077 mentioned a comment about "why didn't they have the pumps for the appraisal"... well the answer is, until you know all the variables e.g what the fluid temperature is etc, or if there are solids in the mix, you might not be able to foretell what artificial lift mechanism to use.
