Find the original announcement of the Principal Investigators request for the interim analysis. There, it clearly spells it out in a few words, ie "to expedite" this trial. That's the whole point of having an interim analysis instead of waiting for the analysis at the very end. If the interim analysis comes good, it will allow for a much earlier application for the next stage of trialing. btw it does not mean they will cease looking for the optimum dosage, which matters as much for the planned cancer trial as this MND trial.

I had to raise my voice because some are getting so lost in the details they're missing the forest for the trees. In the meantime I'm quietly confident but am in my wait and see mode. Let's see if Sam's apparent confidence has legs.
