Can't say I disagree with you pintohoo, not many people even talk about the conflict that arose when the Americans were in Australia whilst our young men were away in the Second World War. I hate the idea of our military bases being used as pawns in America's fight with China. They care not that our livelihood is tied to our exports of materials to China. And if Trump is re-elected in good ole USA, let's see if he pulls America out of the NATO alliance like he did last time. And he will start a trade war with China again. The stupid part is, that even his own people don't realise that any tariffs or sanctions are paid for by Americans in the cost of the imported product.
