re: Ann: Quarterly Activities Report and Crai... Yeah, I don't hold out much hope for them to actually address the actual question.
More strange data from
http://www.asic.gov.au/asic/asic.nsf/byheadline/Short+position+reports+table?openDocument
today, supposedly for Wed the 21st of July.
According to these fine people, WSA jumped from 0.93% (1,673,733 shares) of all stock shorted, to 3.44% (6,197,191 shares)on that day.
Somehow, someone shorted 4,523,458 on that day yet only about 900K traded on the ASX.
That makes WSA the 8th most shorted stock out of 500+ on the list. That's a change from the 70th most shorted stock the previous day.
Here is the current top 8
Code No. of shares %
FXJ 277717588 11.8
NCM 29476164 6.09
PPT 2355905 5.45
CRG 3870091 4.94
AVO 11315530 3.9
ALS 3487608 3.72
JBH 3804222 3.52
WSA 6197191 3.44
Well at least that's what the official ASIC data says.
Looking at the data on WSA, it appears this might just be another way for the brokers to attempt to manipulate the market. Get your act together ASIC, pull your finger out and quit it with the fairytales.
