Can't read the article as it is paywalled. Nothing new in tribal fighting in the Highlands, likely being going on for 1000's of years, I did read some speculation about external support, however they have never done it in the past, so I don't see why any externals would intervene aside from PNGDF who are quite capable. My take on Australian newspapers is that there is a lot of over dramatisation and sensationalising around conflict in PNG, I don't know why they do this, maybe driven by a need to depress investment into PNG?? Always a great feelgood story when the Australian government rides in on it's shiny white horse saving the day. Again, I'm being very cynical - however PNG is major competition to Australia in the resource space.
