It appears as if we have had similar experiences as I recently lost 2 of my lifelong friends to bad cancers.....one to pancreatic and the other to throat cancer. They discontinued chemotherapy because of quality of life issues. I was cross at the time as their friendship was very dear to me. But I realise now that life is all about making choices.

Unlike me, you seem to have medical knowledge (you use proper terminology!) which must be useful. For what it's worth my oncologist said it's a very good sign when a surgeon sees no need for taking biopsies during a procedure.

When I was first diagnosed I asked my surgeon why me to which he replied I was just unlucky. However I think I may have enjoyed too many wines and celebrations in my younger days........ Alcohol free days were a rarity!

And yes I do believe in miracles but not the religious kind. My oncologist said the complete destruction of my rockmelon sized tumour was the type of event which helps him get up in the morning. I believe miracles occur as a result of perfect planning by very competent and sympathetic medical people and patients who never give up hope and see hope as a strategy for survival.
