The price of EV/Hybrid batteries have come down dramatically over the past 10
years and of course there are different batteries for EVs 7 hybrids...eg:
-the bigger Lithium batteries for the full EVs
-smaller lithium batteries for the plug-in Hybrids
-and much smaller NMH batteries for the full hybrids
RE: NMH typically used in Toyota Taxis
Taxi life expectancy 5 -7 years 400k to 500K Kms
Average commuter of say 20,000 kms P/A mostly city.......300K Kms 10-15 years
Cost of a NMH battery:
-Rebuilt $1500 to $1650 with 4 years warranty (12 to 14 tanks of petrol)
New: $2800 (source Infinitive Australia)
Lithium Batteries can be 4-5 times that
PS: The Chinese control the battery market and over the past 10
years their price has halved simply due to economy of scale and
recycling .
