IMO Twiggy is just a very well connected gambler who eventually got lucky. Anaconda Nickel was a total disaster. FMG had worthless deposits until the China boom and has been on the brink of failure twice (2009, 2015) due to the collapse of IO prices. In both cases it was saved by massive Chinese stimulus packages.
