You could drill till your eyes bleed but if HQ is worried about future demand, all the drilling "MIGHT" entice them to get involved but all the drilling did was entice them to give a lower offer as opposed to no offer.
I thought Grainger was actually trying to hold back his enthusiasm. He has to be careful of what he says after all. I felt if he said much more there may be a "Please explain" notice.
