This reminds me of the early days of cloud compute where the answer of "throw more tin at it" for local server infrastructure was both unviable and not optimal where distributed compute that scaled up and down as needed was introduced to solve these problems...
now it seems that decentralisation is reaching it's own limitation with AI where it might make sense to perform specific AI related functions on device quickly and efficiently for each specific function and return back to cloud servers for larger operations or training updates...
just thinking out loud on why I like this area of technology.
