That is what makes me curious. I wonder if current treatment ever was actually approved as a sepsis treatment. It seems what is currently in use is drugs that were approved many years ago as anti biotics? Rce have often made the point that no new anti biotics have been introduced in many years. Im no doctor but it seems sepsis is currently treated using these drugs that were approved years ago as general anti biotics. Has a trial actually ever been done on a sepsis cure?? If recce could get approval for 527 as a general anti biotic maybe then it can find its way into the tool kit of doctors. Maybe this is why the new results seen with the gel formulation of 327 and the SAS are so critical. It seems if 327 can be available in an emergency case of drug resistant infection and doctors know it is there and "proven relatively safe" in the early phase 1 trials then we may see it accessed more and more despite the lack of phase 2. Surely once it is prove without severe side effects in multiple emergency life threatening situations maybe the path to commercialisation will become a little easier?
Shows the importance of the Murdoch Children's collaboration also as hopefully doctors become more aware the product is there for access in extreme cases and decide to try it out more often?
