While this is not an untrue statement, big corporations and billionaires are not the biggest problem. There are other problems that must be tackled before this can even be looked at and assessed if it's still an issue.

The amount of stealth taxation is unreal. This affects the average hard working person.
Then there's the energy and time wasted dealing with red tape. That's lost productivity that could be making everyone richer.
Finally there's the general public asking government to solve problems that government should not be solving. Of course the government obliges them.

These 3 issues are a massive drain on the overall wealth of everyone collectively. Since the overall size of wealth and productivity shrinks, people fight more viciously over what remains.

You are right, it's not nice. But people advocating wealth re-distribution should be very careful what they wish for. To anyone who doubts this have an open and honest conversation with a refugee from the eastern bloc and ask them questions about what life was like. Ask them if they see any parallels.

I believe the wealthier a nation is, the more generous it can be with it's social programs. To turn insular and start clamping down on productive people will only result in a spiral downwards. If people truly want to help others they need to be in a position to help.
