Yes, if you were certain it would go through you would buy at 2.78 and get a 7% return on your investment, better than you can get with a term deposit.
I think we'll stay priced around this discount level until there is more certainty over the deal proceding or a better offer emerges.
I wish we were going mining but since it's looking unlikely, shout out to all the Kiwis living in capital gains tax free heaven. You lucky sods.
