The point is he's only keeping the seat warm, not his role to start driving change but to just keep the wheels turning at they were. Business as usual.
i don't know why people are making such a fuss about this. I would be more worried if the temp guy started making big plans, and engaging with stakeholders. It's just not appropriate. The MO is sign the contracts and the cheques put in front of you by the board, and wait for the new talent to arrive.
