Ultimately, GGE looks like it is moving in a forward direction
I'm hoping that this funding allows drilling of holes 4-8 to continue immediately after the existing campaign - if there was a share-raising/loan taken right now, that would then allow GGE enough lead-time to contract a driller now in time for October onwards.
A fund-raising now would then allow GGE to show the driller the cash in the bank and commit a rig (or perhaps two rigs) to the entire campaign instead of losing it to other parties between drills.
And/or they may have hit something really good in hole 1, and want to fund a second development well immediately to nail cashflow quickly.
