New Zealand does not have a general capital gains tax. However, income tax legislation specifically includes various forms of gain that would otherwise be considered a capital gain within the definition of 'income’.
from PWC website. And there are requirements to declare capital movements in overseas share holdings to IRD annually. From the sound of it you have significant amounts in play that might attract IRD attention. I’m no tax expert but just a heads up it’s not as simple as you may think.
