I am confused as to how the ASX system works.
At close of trade today BHP had approximately 8,000 shares for sale at or above $43.71 and total volume at close of trade was 7,758,873 traded for the day.
When my platform re-opened at 4.10 pm 10,519,227 shares had been traded for the day?
ie 2,760,354 were traded after close of trade and BHP closed at $43.71 per share?
How is it that only 8,000 shares were available at $43.71 per share or better and yet 2.760,354 shares were traded in that 10 minute period?
If anyone can explain to me how that occurs i would be grateful.
Thanks in advance of an explanation.
