Increasing the borehole size will increase the flow rate but only when the flow rate is restricted by the existing flow coming into the wellbore from the formation.
The exact rate that would benefit a certain casing size is a complex calculation depending on many factors including the viscosity of the gas. For standard cased holes like 7 1/2", you would not start looking at drilling a bigger production hole (remembering you need to make all upper holes including bigger - more expensive), until you had a flow of 10-20 million cf/d. Most reservoirs would only flow above this rate for a short time and the wellbore would be big enough the vast majority of the life of the well.
It would be great if GGE had this dilemma to deal with.
