If you look across to the left of the chart you will see the same behaviour on the way down where it shuffled across to the right and then continued lower with red candles. The general rule is if you are in an uptrend going into a consolidation, price will tend to continue higher and if in a downtrend the price will tend to come out of the consolidation lower. If not then they become clear reversal points.
