Woody, it won't go on for months, it will be years.
The government has formed a commission, and even in Australia commissions on-average take between 9 months to 2 years to report their finding, then these reports are sent to committees for assessment, with final reports undergoing at least a couple of reviews.
Personally, I think the commission will be in operation for 2 to 3 years, and FFX will be long de-listed before any of that is concluded, and still not permitted to sell it''s 80% stake in Morila S.A.
One of the (many) huge problems that mining companies have in West African countries, is that they have been duped, scammed, blackmailed and conned into doing everything the government of the country should be doing. Just go back and look at the huge list of community projects all mining companies are spending literally tens of millions on.
They build schools and hospitals and farms and roads and houses and put on water and electricity and sewerage, and train teachers and nurses and engineers, and give university scholarships, and run large agricultural projects, and dozens of other services that any decent reputable and responsible government in any country on earth would be funding and doing through it's public service departments.
These governments are taking hundreds of millions in taxes and spending none of this money on all those housing and community projects - they've blackmailed the mining companies into doing.
So what is these government's doing with all the monies they get in tax and duties and royalties and free-carry projects?
They spend it on weapons mostly, bought from Russians and other weapons traders, and they spend it on military equipment, and paying for Russian military mercenaries and services. This is what they spend it on, to a large degree.
The mining companies are building the communities and country for them, while they just go and buy weapons and fight. They fight extremists and fight within their own country, in civil wars and coup after coup.
After all, the coup leaders are just a tribe, who have more weapons than the other tribe, and so are able to claim all the land for themselves. This is all it is, when you get right down to the basics. They are just in-country tribal wars that have been going on for hundreds of years (for some of them).
It's time they started using the millions they are given freely, from mining land that they have basically usurped and killed their fellow citizens and tribes for in coup after coup - it's time they used that money to better their own country and provide services all other countries do, including building schools and hospitals and farms and roads - and not demanded that mining companies have provide all these facilities. It's way past time they lived up to their national responsibilities, and gave the guns a rest.
