Its a gamble on ANY stock my friend. Staying in this , getting out , topping up - It's ALL a gamble. And this has NOT been completely de-risked as many seem to think. And NPV doesn't mean crap because other companies in Canada and elsewhere in this Lithium space are also trading way below their declared project NPV's. And this fact has been talked about many time.
The simple fact is we are in a different part of the cycle where the lithium producer price is under pressure because it is largely a and unregulated NEW commodity , and so the market is heading for relative ' cover ' and protection of the much less exposed exploring end of the spectrum. Because there is almost always going to be a premium for finding more of something. Especially if it is valuable from a short to mid to long term expected horizon.
And the world knows it needs more of it. So you may as well participate in that end of the market as well.
More of a gamble if you're putting you fortnightly paycheck into ONE stock like Sayona. Sheesh , I'm so glad I'm not one of those people who have that problem with a paycheck I have to rob every week or two. But even if I did , I wouldn't be choosing Sayona as my preferred play to place my ' Pay Chips ' That would be way more of a gamble if you ask me.
In so far as Canada is concerned. The market now knows it has an abundance of potentially LARGE scale deposits which can with all likelihood be found. So its waiting to see which one ends up taking the lead in terms of size , quality and other parameters. And they aren't all going to get up , but if you were someone with a time horizon of 3 to 4 years...., maybe even 2 if you're being optimistic , you'd sit back and wait and see which one emerges before you do anything. A bit like what RIO and Albemarle have chosen to do in Canada. They seem very reserved and not rushed into anything right now.
Gee I wonder why .... So , despite what they say about bringing a mine online etc...., there seems to be NO sense of urgency right now. Except if you're Albemarle which clearly want's more spod from Australia for their operation.
