The market is basically controlled by CATL and BYD at this point.
Whos interest do you think it is in to drop the lithium price?
At this point many refineries in China are running at a loss.
This is a move from China to try and eliminate competition. Until EU/Korea/Japan/USA get their own refineries online the price will be manipulated by China. Once we get other countries online the market will become a lot more transparent.
There is also the question of how much longer Chinese refineries can run at a loss.
