You've identified the key problem in any technology space; there's more than one way to skin a cat.
I think what you are saying is that Apple already has the technology to achieve the image processing features it sees as desirable to keep iPhone at the front of the pack.

The question then becomes...

1. How much more could they achieve with more powerful AI processing?
2. What would happen if their smart phone competitors deployed the better technology first?
3. In smart phones battery life is important - would Akida deliver better power efficiency?
4. Is Akida actually more performant on these measures?

And if Akida is more performant, why hasn't Apple already deployed it?
The answer to the last question is possibly that Apple already has a huge investment in its current AI technology.
Relearning with a new processor would be a significant investment.

I can't confidently answer any of these questions.
But, the world seems to be deploying AI at the edge just fine without BRN/Akida.
I am going to need to go back to doing hours of research to determine what competitive advantages BRN has with its breed of Edge AI.
