I don't know what the street is saying on this, but Brookfield should be sweating now. Brookfield makes its money by managing assets, so it is in their best interest to overpay for an asset to move it across the line. I mean what value per transaction are they deriving for their North American shareholders is not that important to us.

$8.91 bid was made a long time ago and back then AUD were about 70 cents. What is so different now then? Well. Aussie$ is range bound 62-65 cents so that warrants 8% premium politely. The elephant in the room is the new energy tariff. Regulators have approved price hikes. They are easily 40% jacked. Instability in Europe will cause gas prices to stay at elevated levels.

Another bid from another PE would be such an awesome drama. Brookfield has the right to match the bid if they want. Superfund consortium will be an awesome challenge right now.

18% premium on today's price will still be considered a loot.

This is an arbitrage trade now. Let's all make money soon.
