I have just posted another e-mail to Larissa Waters in which I hope to recieve a response. When it is received, I will immediately post it on HC. If it is not received within 7 days, (a reasonable amount of time I believe for Larissa to give a response), I will post a message that it has not yet been received and HCerites can air their disappointment in any way they see fit.

    Dear Larissa,

I am writing to you again to attempt to understand your your position on Underground Coal Gasification in light of recent events at Kogan Creek, Kingaroy and Chinchilla.

I believe your recent comments stating that you will support revoking the licenses of three Underground Coal Gasification companies, Linc Energy, Carbon Energy and Cougar Energy, were made in haste. And your impatience in attempting to persuade those less knowledgable about the technology will go some way in destroying an industry in Queensland without the general public and yourself understanding the full scientific implications of the further testing that has been done. May I remind you that as yet, the science says (according to DERM) that none of the companies I have listed have been proven to show that they have caused pollution that would be in any way detrimental to the continued use of local waters, be that above or below ground.

I would ask you then, that you provide me with your explanation of why you support the idea of "three strikes and your out", given that you are a supporter of the science, and what exactly you mean by "a strike".

I expect in your reply a detailed scientific explanation on what you describe as "a strike" on each of the three companies seperately.

You have been quoted as saying, "We both want a long-term sustainable industry with fishing and we think the way that should be done is by looking at the science, which tells us fish need somewhere safe to breed or their stocks run out. They don't just fall out of the air" to highlight your argument on fishing, now I want you to look at the science and explain to me in detail why Underground Coal Gasification should not go ahead.

As we are both fighting for the same cause, that is, less CO2 emmissions, I want to know that you are fighting for a greener Australia. If you do not understand the science of an industry that wil help in this cause, I fear you are not the right person to represent the Australian people.

Please note also that I will be posting this e-mail on HotCopper, an internet blog site whereby many many hundreds of our fellow Australians will read this e-mail I have sent to you. I will also let you know that I have a vested interest in all three companies (among others) and after researching the science myself and wanting to support innovative Australian companies that have the ability to vastly reduce our CO2 emissions, I found Underground Coal Gasification as one of but a very limited number of technologies that ticks the boxes for reduction in CO2 and maintaining our standard of living.

I await for your response, for which I will post on HotCopper and I would like to bring to your attention that a lack of a detailed response will be met with deafening silence.

    Kind Regards,
