Hi orlop. @@mmc4 mentioned this too.
I'm in a different time zone right now and I missed the event you are talking about, so I can't answer specifics, but it sounds like a remarkable presentation. Glioblastoma is a dreadful cancer - and I have no idea what immunotherapy therapy they are using in this case.
I think in principle a patient with Glioblastoma could be included in the current Vaccinia trial. The trial protocol says that they will accept patients with any kind of solid tumour: "Patients eligible for treatment include those with any metastatic or advanced solid tumor who have documented radiological progression per RECIST following at least two prior lines of therapy which may have included treatment with an Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor. "
However, Glioblastoma presents some severe challenges because most viruses will not cross the blood brain barrier - which is why it exists. Direct injection has been tried for other Oncolytic virus again GB, and the same could. be done with CF33. No idea if they are set up to do that though. Direct injection into the brain is going to be a lot trickier than most other sites.
I suspect that Prof Scolyer has chosen Prof Long's treatment because of detailed knowledge - you say they are co Directors of the Melanoma Institute. If Prof Long has developed something specifically for GB, and already has data to indicate efficacy, that may be a good call.
CF33 was not designed specifically for GB, and GB is not one of the NCI60 cancer cell lines - though we know that Yuman successfully tested CF33 on another 20 or so cancer cell types and it killed them all (in vitro). Possibly GB was one of those, but again, I would expect that Prof Scolyer has chosen research with which he is very familiar, and which is more specific to GB. Just my best analysis - not saying I am correct here.
I do have a vague recollection that Yuman has mentioned Glioblastoma at some point - perhaps in one of his roadshow presentations? I can't find anything online. Possibly someone else with better memory can nail that down, or perhaps I am imagining it!
Bet regards
Dave
