BlingMaster,
Lucky or not you did well it takes guts to hold on. I didn't trade that scenario very well. Next time.
I've made the most money on long holds but also made good trades on shorting the indexes and holding for 3 - 5 days.
My mindset has been very bearish ever since April so I've been struggling holding my longs more than a day and therefor taking profit to early.
The more I trade. The more I find that psychology plays a very big part.
Trading had made me realise a whole heap of things about myself and my life I didn't realise before. Trade and discover yourself :)
I find I'm reading all these psychology books.
I can recommend "The Daily Trading Coach" if you want to research your mind.
Stop losses are tricky they can also cost you a lot of money if you don't set them correctly. Learning about volatility has been the key to get them better.
I agree with you there, Going on the XJO thread has been a very important thing in my development as a trader. I'm learning a lot everyday here. It has opened my eyes to a whole heap of facinating trading ideas and styles.
Its also good for a laugh too with all the characters here :)
I will become a good trader. I'm still learning but I feel I'm heading in the right direction. 10000 Hours to be an expert at anything. I still got a long way to go. I'm really enjoying ride even with the downs and ups. So I'm riding this baby to the end :)
