Kadaň (Chomutov) - Regarding the car battery factory, negotiations with three investors are at an advanced stage. One project concerns Pilsen-Líní, one could be in the Ústí Region. Minister of Industry and Trade Josef Síkela (STAN) told journalists after the government meeting in Kadani in the Chomutovsk region. In the north of Bohemia, a so-called gigafactory is being considered on the site of the Prunéřov I lignite power plant, which is now being demolished.
"We cannot publish the name of the potential investor, but one of the projects could be in the Ústí Region," he said. In addition, in the preliminary phase, the government is conducting further negotiations with investors in areas that follow lithium mining, the minister said.
Volkswagen has not yet made a decision regarding the construction of a factory on the site of the airport in Líny near Pilsen. VW is choosing between Poland, Hungary and Línie, where the factory would employ up to 4,000 people. Its construction is rejected by aero clubs and pilots using the reserve army area, and in some surrounding villages a petition against the construction is signed.
According to a recent discussion at the regional council, VW's decision should be made by the end of September.The deputy chairman of the ČEZ board of directors, Pavel Cyrani, told ČTK that negotiations about an investor for Prunéřov are still ongoing.
