It literally is normal, there were way crazier weather fluctuations 50 and more years ago. People just didn't notice it because they weren't looking for it back then, whereas now they're looking for every single sign that climate change is occurring.
Have a read about the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, basically it's a bias where when you learn something new, suddenly it appears to occur more frequently than is actually the case. Basically a confirmation bias, if you look for evidence of something you'll find it.
