RAC must also have the biggest voluntary armchair board. Not entirely sure that elevating largely anonymous chatter all day here on hc is a good way to "assist" the company, including "playing to the crowd". Call me old fashioned, but when you know what you're doing, by all means get approval from your SHs and fellow company directors, but then get the f.. on with and do it, as opposed to spending hours all day placating to us.

Heard an interesting quote on Saturday from the new coach of the German national men's football team who is in a deep crisis. He wants the team not to play safety first, with the back to the wall, afraid of making a mistake. Instead, focus on your qualities and play good attacking football with conviction and defence, to an extent, looks after itself.

I feel RAC is in a somewhat similar position. Yes, we had the coach leave, and at the bottom of the ladder. But we have great qualities. It is, IMO, the company's and its management's responsibility to focus on those, define our strategy and tactics going forward, and deliver accordingly - irrespective of us "Besserwisser" on the side-lines.

It is that decisive announcement that will restore strength and conviction to believe in what RAC can deliver. That is what I am sorely looking for!
