I agree. Having a few weeks in Paris is not really experiencing France.
We have traveled throughout France on many occasions since the late
80s and the rural French are tremendous people and entirely different
to the cosmopolitan Parisiennes. We did a prolonged house swap in central France
and the small towns & villages were a treat .....fewer tourists and more genuine
French people . Our neighbours treated us like long lost family and involved us
in the local community and cultural events and of course the food and wine were to die for.
And unlike German, all we had was Google French.
