Toyota battery plants are still manufacturing NiMH, supposedly they are building a lithium ion battery plant in Arizona. They're in la La land claiming they will be mass producing EVs with solid state batteries in 2026, that's two years away. They haven't even been able to produced a decent EV with current generation batteries. The BZ4X is one of the least efficient EVs on the market for it's size. Now they've publicly admitted to tearing down a Tesla Model Y to try and make up ground because their R&D is 10 years behind. If the world leading battery manufacturers ie CATL, BYD, Samsung, Tesla, Panasonic, LG can't get solid state working what chance does laggard Toyota have. Last year their CEO was still saying no one wanted EVs and talking about 'self charging' hybrids, now supposedly they're revolutionizing batteries.
