I read the boss of Ivanhoe mines was laughing about all of the hoopla surrounding electric cars using lithium and other metals in their batteries. He reminded the assembled throng that 80% of the weight of these batteries will be copper - a typical 450kg car battery (for a large family sedan) will therefore need 360kg of copper.
