Cougar Energy talking with government to resume operations
Sam Burgess
A company whose South Burnett underground coal gasification plant has been put on hold say they're ready to resume operations when they're allowed to.
Cougar Energy's Kingaroy UCG project was shut down last month after tests showed benzene and toluene were present in nearby bores.
Subsequent tests by the Department of Environment and Resource Management have shown the bores comply with water quality guidelines.
Cougar's managing director Len Walker says they're now preparing an environmental evaluation report to present to the department, and they're hoping to resume operations if they're given the all clear.
