The future take up of broadband by the mass population is the key argument. The more people who use broadband internet, the slower it will get. The same occurs with roads. So we have to put in the fastest available technology as we cannot 'widen the road' later. As for the cost, no doubt the argument was put forward for telegraph, phones, railways and roads. Space exploration gave us computers, GPS, weather forecasting and many other advances to our way of life. If cost is to be the argument, lets put the attention on arms and warfare. Have these two done much for the population?
