if AFI outperformed the market or a market index like STW l would think it's a freak year. it's just not possible.
l buy LIC's not to outperform the market but because they can determine (less so AFI) your income. the income (yield) is not determined buy the market as it is for an index fund but by the fund.
l want to be able to budget for my income over 24 months.
also l choose LIC's for international exposure eg PGF PIC LSF that give me franked income not unfranked yield.
finally if l want shorts to protect the capital base as a tool for uncertainty l buy a LIC that uses direct and indirect shorts.
we hear a lot about the Esther of LIC's but l buy them as well as ETF's because they serve a different purpose
