I'm going to go with Whisky on this one. There is no announcement because there is nothing material to announce.
They have already said what they are doing...they are doing a trade-off study of carbonate vs hydroxide. If that study turns into an actual project with an agreement with another partner (marlin?) then they will announce when the deal is done. Until then they are running the numbers, and it's understandable that it's commercial-in-confidence until such time.
So sure, speculate all you like but let's not work against them. No need to expose them or run to the ASX etc to force a statement prematurely. We're all on the same team, remember?
