Numerous factors can influence the rate of recruitment for Clinical trials.
In this case, its is a procedure that carries risk, has a conventional alternative product on offer, and the trial is presenting an 'experimental' alternative with very limited clinical experience.
It would be mindful to be aware that not all potential participants will be willing to consent for the trial.
