Yes, I have been watching that too, WD. Global regulatory and government policies do have some influence on policy in our country. The problem we have in Australia is how much power each state holds under Federation.
Regarding your comments on ASX/ASIC going slow, I totally agree.
The ASX are dealing with 2100+companies with only 2 general offices (Melb/Syd) and a mining office in WA, I believe. Last I heard from working indirectly, with prep of ann's, is that they meet in committees to decide on big things like deals etc. How many of those go on every week across 2100+stocks? I am not sure if the committees meet weekly only, and you can be assured that the ASX Top 200 get priority over Microcaps.
ASIC, on the other hand are dealing with Public, privates and individuals. So go slow is the order of the day.
